Career Guidance and inspiration tours extended to Mlandizi, at Mbwawa Secondary School. After out participation in the Tanzania Education Exhibitions, we got numerous contacts from different heads of schools and academicians. Mbwawa secondary school extended an invitation to their school for our team to provide the students with career guidance and inspire them to work harder in their life goals.
The school is a faith based institution under the Lutheran church. It is an average performing school and the head of school felt that it would add value to bring in new perspective to the students.
The career guidance in Mbwawa Secondary School was conducted from around 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, whereby 5 members from ProjeKt Inspire attended the event and spoke to around 283 students. Four hours were spent with the students giving them an opportunity to listen to the presenters, as well as raising any inquiries they had. The sessions were distributed into four parts as follows:
• Opening session
• 60 minutes first session
• 60 minutes second session
• Closing session .
In the beginning of the sessions, the team together with the students assembled together for introduction. The team members introduced themselves to the students as well as their areas of field. There after, the students were given an option to attend any of the fields they would want to learn more from.
These fields included:
- Sciences – health careers, aviation, engineering, information, communication and technology
- Business and arts – Economics, Business and Entrepreneurship, Law, International Relations and Diplomacy
Thereafter, students attended their first priority session for 60 minutes whereby, the presenters presented for the first 45 minutes followed by questions and answers session that took 15 minutes. During these sessions, students learnt the following about the particular fields of interest:
